OUR RESPONSE TO PRESIDENT OBAMA’S CALL

On a day rich in history, Barak Obama, took office on January 20th, to become the 44th president of this nation. He called for a new era of responsibility and activism in the midst of raging storms of war and recession. What will be our response as citizens of the United States and ambassadors of the Kingdom of God to this call?

Firstly, we need to commit ourselves to serious daily prayer for our new president and his awesome task. The Apostle Paul declares, in no uncertain terms, our daunting civic responsibility in 1 Timothy 2:1-2, “------I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, in order that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.”
1. We need to pray that he establishes a real growing personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

2. We need to pray that the fear of God may grip our new president’s life affecting all decisions.

3. We need to pray for the positive influence of godly men and women that will touch and surround his life.

4. We need to pray for the development of deep ethical and moral convictions in his life.

5. We need to pray for wisdom and discernment for our president in leading this nation during this time of darkness and uncertainty.

Secondly, we need to commit ourselves to serious daily prayer for transformation in our nation. According to the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:10, we are to pray in the following manner, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” This prayer is the responsibility of God’s people to follow and embrace with intentionality and understanding.

1. We need to pray into effect God’s Kingdom agenda, or rule, or plan on planet earth.

2. We need to pray to see and understand God’s Kingdom agenda being comprehensive for every sphere or jurisdiction of life.

3. We need to pray for the Spirit to reveal the specific Kingdom agenda from the Scriptures in real clarity for the following areas:

-Our personal life or self-rule
-Our family life or how we function at home
-Our church life or how we function relationally caring for one another.
-Our vocational life is understanding our calling and work assignment.
-Our civil government life, supporting justice and good government.

4. We need to pray to be awakened to Kingdom living and thinking so Kingdom influence, blessing and transformation can invade the earth.

Yes, we will pray for our president and our nation that America shall be, in all her ways, for the glory and honor of God.

God's purpose is sonship

Here we see God’s goal and purpose-------all things work to take this born again child and develop him into a mature son. He is in the school of the Spirit. The Father was so pleased and satisfied with His only begotten son that He wanted a whole family of sons just like him. Praise God! That includes us. Father wants a family of sons and daughters that will express His heart, traits, nature and purpose in the earth.

The whole church seems to truly be dramatically affected in a negative way by the imbalance of emphasis on the born-again experience instead of the journey to spiritual maturity or sonship. The adversary has used every blinding, darkening, withholding and divisive effort to keep us from understanding our calling and destiny. Of course, the same imbalance is true in regard to emphasis on ministry or “doing” rather than “being” and becoming a person of character and Godly behavior.

By what standard do you define success? In the Kingdom of God, success is sonship. In God’s Kingdom, success is found in succession. To succeed is to replicate the life of Christ in our lives, and then train others to replicate it in theirs. I succeed only as the succession of Christ’s life and purpose is reproduced in me and those I lead. As we receive from our Heavenly Father and the spiritual fathers He has placed in our lives, the spirit of sonship will bring us to the true meaning of success. This success may not be accompanied by plaques or medals, but it will bring with it, “Well done, good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord.”

Let me conclude with a powerful verse, Genesis 14:14. “When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he led out his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.” The warriors that will bring reformation and transformation to this culture are the sons and daughters trained and raised in our house for the glory of God.
