Here we see God’s goal and purpose-------all things work to take this born again child and develop him into a mature son. He is in the school of the Spirit. The Father was so pleased and satisfied with His only begotten son that He wanted a whole family of sons just like him. Praise God! That includes us. Father wants a family of sons and daughters that will express His heart, traits, nature and purpose in the earth.
The whole church seems to truly be dramatically affected in a negative way by the imbalance of emphasis on the born-again experience instead of the journey to spiritual maturity or sonship. The adversary has used every blinding, darkening, withholding and divisive effort to keep us from understanding our calling and destiny. Of course, the same imbalance is true in regard to emphasis on ministry or “doing” rather than “being” and becoming a person of character and Godly behavior.
By what standard do you define success? In the Kingdom of God, success is sonship. In God’s Kingdom, success is found in succession. To succeed is to replicate the life of Christ in our lives, and then train others to replicate it in theirs. I succeed only as the succession of Christ’s life and purpose is reproduced in me and those I lead. As we receive from our Heavenly Father and the spiritual fathers He has placed in our lives, the spirit of sonship will bring us to the true meaning of success. This success may not be accompanied by plaques or medals, but it will bring with it, “Well done, good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord.”
Let me conclude with a powerful verse, Genesis 14:14. “When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he led out his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.” The warriors that will bring reformation and transformation to this culture are the sons and daughters trained and raised in our house for the glory of God.
